Instant Pot Pulled Pork (Printable Version)

Smoky, tender pork shoulder cooked in a pressure cooker, great for sandwiches, tacos, or hearty dinners.

# What You'll Need:

→ Meat

01 - 1.5 pounds pork shoulder steaks, whole

→ Seasonings

02 - 1 teaspoon salt
03 - 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
04 - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
05 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - 1 teaspoon onion powder

→ Liquids

07 - 0.5 cup chicken broth or water
08 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
09 - 0.5 cup plain barbecue sauce (for serving)

# Step-by-Step Guide:

01 - Pat pork shoulder steaks dry with paper towels. Evenly season all sides with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
02 - Select Sauté mode on the Instant Pot and heat olive oil. Sear pork steaks for 2 to 3 minutes per side in batches as needed. Cancel sauté mode when done.
03 - Pour chicken broth or water into the pot to deglaze and add moisture.
04 - Secure lid and set valve to Sealing. Pressure cook on High for 60 minutes.
05 - Allow natural pressure release for 15 to 20 minutes, then perform quick release to release any remaining pressure.
06 - Use two forks to shred pork. Drain excess liquid, toss meat with barbecue sauce if desired, and serve immediately.

# Additional Notes:

01 - For best flavor, allow pork to rest uncovered for a few minutes before shredding to let juices redistribute.
