In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, baking powder, and baking soda.

Add shortening, molasses, eggs, and warm water to the dry mixture. Mix on low speed until just combined, then increase to medium speed and beat for 2 minutes until the batter resembles thick, soft-serve ice cream.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 28 to 33 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool for 20 to 30 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream.
