Wash cucumbers thoroughly and cut lengthwise into spears. Crush garlic cloves and finely mince fresh dill.

Place cucumber spears, crushed garlic, and minced dill in a large mixing bowl. Add salt and black pepper.

Toss all ingredients to combine thoroughly. Cover the bowl or transfer mixture into a ziplock bag. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to several hours to allow flavors to infuse. Note that longer marinating will produce softer cucumbers.

Serve chilled as a side accompaniment to grilled meats, seafood, sandwiches or roasted potatoes.
