Frankenstein Halloween Treats (Printable Version)

Spooky treats coated in green and black candy melts, decorated with icing eyes and sprinkles.

# What You'll Need:

→ Main

01 - 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
02 - 10-ounce bag mini marshmallows
03 - 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

→ Decoration

04 - 10 ounces green candy melts
05 - 3 ounces black candy melts
06 - Royal icing eyes
07 - Black jimmies sprinkles

# Step-by-Step Guide:

01 - Butter a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish to prevent sticking.
02 - In a large pot over low to medium heat, melt the butter. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until completely smooth.
03 - Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir with a spatula until the cereal is evenly coated.
04 - Transfer the mixture into the prepared casserole dish. Press firmly to fill the dish evenly and flatten the top surface.
05 - Allow the mixture to set and cool for 30 minutes to firm up completely.
06 - Remove the set mixture from the dish and cut into rectangular pieces of assorted sizes.
07 - Using a double boiler method, place a bowl over a pot of boiling water and add the green candy melts. Stir until smooth. If the coating is too thick for dipping, add one teaspoon of vegetable shortening to thin it.
08 - Dip the top of each Rice Krispie piece into the melted green candy coating, then immediately coat with black jimmies sprinkles.
09 - Place two royal icing eyes onto each coated treat while the coating is still wet to ensure adhesion.
10 - Melt the black candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl using 10 to 15-second intervals until smooth.
11 - Fill a piping bag with the melted black candy melts and pipe stitch-like designs onto each treat to complete the Frankenstein look.
12 - Let the decorated treats set fully at room temperature before packaging or serving.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Use vegetable shortening sparingly to adjust candy melt consistency for perfect dipping.
